Pros
You get to see firsthand what it is like to live day to day as a consumer affected with very severe mental illness.
Cons
Raises were non-existent and the as it is pay was difficult to live on and from the recent salary reported on here, it is the same as it was 10 years ago. There is no where to grow as a behavioral health counselor. I was not impressed by the programs for the consumers living in the residences nor the quality of living in some programs. You have to find coverage for your own shift when taking a vacation or you cannot take your vacation. Management does not assist.
