Great culture, until it isn’t... The higher ranking positions are “club access only.” - Senior Systems Engineer Compunet Employee Review

Pros

Great culture and business strategy. The benefits are amazing, particularly the paid health insurance. Great people if you’re in the right circles…

Cons

Comp plans are a mess. Constantly changing, and often not at the benefit of engineers. CompuNet touts their open door policy, but when you bring ideas or issues to the attention of the owner, or higher up’s, they are ignored or dismissed, especially if not through the chain of command. Pretty well established “good ole’ boys club” in each market. Tough to break the barrier to “provide value” or become billable unless you’re in one of the established circles of trust. Account executives only care about their bottom line, not the best interests of the customers. They seek the most expensive products being sold and focus on those.

Pros

- Good benefits - especially health insurance - Flexible work life - nobody is babysitting you (but you need to own your time) - support for whatever you need to learn (lab gear/classes/etc) - customers tend to really love working with us engineers. Nice to feel appreciated in IT!

Cons

- communication lacking at times - especially across markets/regions. Have made strides in places but still disjointed - culture can vary quite a bit between markets. This is good and bad as you do have the flexibility to work however best fits your region but when you work out of market it can be a different experience - growing pains as the company reaches 500mil in revenue. Will need to figure out how scale past the "every engineer is pre and post sales" model that made the company what it is today
