Pros

You get a paycheck, cafeteria has decent food, Starbucks inside, 70% of the time no weekend shifts, and you get 2 15 minute breaks a day.

Cons

The worst management I've ever worked with. They take their points system VERY SERIOUSLY-- even if you're having a life threatening emergency, aka a heart attack AT WORK, they will still give you your 1/2 point for leaving early, then full points for missing days there after. The managers and supervisors are in meetings all day and are never available to help you. Rules and protocols are forever changing and no one tells you about this change until you've already made a mistake. Conifer also constantly micromanages, you are told exactly what time to go to break and if you're a minute late-- for whatever reason, into the office you go. You also must clock in using Kronos. Let's say you get to work at 7:30 but end up wasting 4 minutes allowing your computer to load to clock in, so you end up clocking in at 7:34. You MUST wait until 4:04 to clock out or your will get a point. They also require the entire dept to work OT at the end of the month. Out of the few months I did work at conifer, I remember having actual work to do 1 time, so most of the time I was forced to work OT I was sitting there twiddling my thumbs and steering clear of the supervisor so I didn't get in trouble for not using my time wisely-- even though there was absolutely nothing to do. And that supervisor is probably the worst manager I've ever had, he is just an all around horrible person. I think I saw him smile once the entire time I worked there and everyone is absolutely terrified of him bc everyone gets fired at conifer. Or quits. EVERYONE is looking to jump ship, I've never witnessed that many people so unhappy with their jobs and constantly talking about applying for new jobs and submitting resumes. And I've had some crappy jobs in the past. Or so I thought they were crappy, anything is better than this place. Conifer also believes in mass execution style firing, everyone is constantly paranoid that they are next on the chopping block bc the people that get fired are never given a true reason except 'you weren't a good fit.' And all of those 4-5 star reviews? Notice how none of them have any details except 'conifer is great!' Or 'best job I've ever had!' Yeah. That's HR submitting reviews so they can stay above 2 stars on glass door. And lastly, if you're not in the cool crowd or buddy-buddy with the supervisors? You can forget about ever moving up or get a chance to apply for a different dept. Every single supervisor in that dept is SO 2 FACED. They talk so much crap about everyone, it's on the lines of harassment honestly. But if your BFF is a supervisor or your mommy is head honcho in a different dept, I would say definitely take the job with conifer and do whatever you want, bc favoritism is the only thing conifer is consistent at. I've heard of employees that completely skipped out on work to stay out late and party, were a no call no show yet they were never reprimanded bc their family member is a big wig or their supervisor is their bff.

Pros

This was the best job I ever had. I am very sad that my position was eliminated. Great work-life balance with a fully remote environment. I had extremely supportive teammates who were willing to answer questions and share knowledge. I love the repetitive, detail-oriented work that allowed me to become efficient and confident in my role. I had great opportunities to specialize in Charge Review while working independently. I had minimal verbal interaction with and a clear sense of purpose by helping prevent missed hospital revenue.

Cons

For some, career growth at this organization and advancement opportunities can be limited depending on the client and department. If you seek consistent learning, the work could’ve become repetitive, which may not appeal to everyone. Job stability for all positions may be affected by client contracts and outsourcing decisions as my position has been eliminated. Cross-training opportunities into other Revenue Cycle areas may be limited.
