Pros

Skill development for new people entering sales industry

Cons

Antiquated thinking and poor treatment of sales and support staff on an institutional level. Many cases of Nepotisim and favoritism are in place. Different treatment for specific people including different start times and different company rules based off friendship with management. Statistics are not accurate in regards to companies diversity as the Sales force is comprised of over 96% white males and management Sales management has no minority’s and one female(if you don’t believe me check their LinkedIn page). Over the years numerous minority’s and women have applied and have been turned away on the basis of “Not the right fit# yet other Caucasian applicants with no sales experience and former jobs as bar tenders and tire repair shop workers are hired into sales. The majority of minorities work in service and warehouse and are not customer facing. Minorities and women beware as there are no people in Sales management who represent you.

We always welcome constructive feedback and appreciate Glassdoor for its ability to give current and former employees a voice. That said, we are truly disappointed by the nature of this review. Please allow us to share some accurate statistics. 22%+ of our management team consist of females, including two who are Vice Presidents and our CFO. We think it is great that women hold important Executive level roles at CBS and hope it inspires other women at CBS to follow suit. Also, we have many women in high-level sales roles such as Strategic Account Specialists, GEM Specialists, Major Account Specialists and MPS Managers. All of these roles overlay several sales reps in their territories and are influential in helping reps develop their skills in proposing solutions to a customer’s specific document flow needs. You just do not have to have a manager title to be influential in a team member’s career development. Regarding our hiring practices, we believe the skills and experiences of people from various industries (hospitality, auto sales, retail sales, etc…) are very transferrable to a sales role at CBS, or any role at CBS for that matter. The people from these industries are very hard working, passionate, have a great attitude and are willing to learn and grow. These are qualities we look for in anyone wanting to join our team. The statement, “The majority of minorities work in service and warehouse and are not customer facing.” is not accurate either. Most of our Service employees are customer facing and play a critical role in the support of the client. Many times they understand the pulse of the account best and are able to relay important information back to Customer Service and Sales so as an organization we can better support our client’s needs. Our best sales people know the value our customer facing service employees’ play and value their partnership in supporting clients. While Glassdoor is a great tool, it does allow some disgruntled former employees to make false claims. We hope anyone reading this review will spend some time on our social media accounts, as they reveal many pictures of our staff. Or better yet, reach out to someone in HR or management to see for themselves why we are a great company to work for, having been voted one of the Best Companies to Work in CT by the Hartford Business Journal, the last 4 years in a row.

Pros

I have been at CBS for 4 full months now. My favorite aspect of CBS is the team atmosphere and support from management. As a former athlete, it was important for me to find a company that had excitement, energy, support, a collaborative team atmosphere, but also the ability to work independently. CBS has provided me with everything I was looking for in a company and i'm fortunate to have found it. The company puts a lot of effort in keeping its employees motivated and is constantly providing ways to educate us and improve our skills/knowledge. It has been a great experience so far and it is nice to represent a brand as good as Xerox. Also, as I am writing this half of the company is on a plane to Aruba for presidents club trip and not many companies have those opportunities.

Cons

Not many cons for me so far. At first I was a little frustrated with a early start in the morning but with this job whatever you put in you will get out of it. the harder you are willing to work the more money you will make here and uncapped commissions on top of a great salary, benfefits, and company incentives is enough to easily keep you motivated on a daily basis.
