Pros

This environment is suited for entry/junior-level employees looking to gain some experience. The agency will buy your lunch when you come into the office.

Cons

My experience working at CONNECTIVE Agency was a complete nightmare in less than 90 days. The agency has no official onboarding as a new hire to gain alignment on the job and business strategy, setting everyone up for failure and disappointment. The agency partners recruit prospective employees with charm, jokes, and perks like free lunches, drinks, and snacks. However, when the work environment runs on pure chaos because of a lack of strategy and clear direction, it causes extreme burnout. The agency partner is also everyone's manager, which causes so much disorder due to unnecessary micromanagement. Also, since the agency partner is everyone's manager, scheduling a 1:1 is difficult, which causes a lot of miscommunication and misunderstandings on assignments that are all flagged urgent. Another issue was the lack of diversity, which in 2023 is very concerning - out of the 16 employees, there were only two Black employees (that included me). When CONNECTIVE involuntarily let me go, only one Black employee remained. Also, as a director and not being a part of their management team (predominantly white staff) or included in their meetings was alarming. The agency lacked clear roles and responsibilities that contributed to a work environment that was constantly confusing and disorganized. As a director, I was isolated from the team and positioned in the agency as a sole contributor compared to everyone else who was part of a team or had resources. I practically had to beg for tools to do my job. Doing things manually at the agency is encouraged versus embracing technology to work smarter and be productive. Additionally, CONNECTIVE's turnover rate is outrageously high, with no one staying at the company for more than a year or two. I did my research and looked up their former team members and noticed a pattern that more experienced professionals don't stay at this company. One of their employees shared with me that one of their team members left because the workload was unreasonable, I can attest, especially compared to the pay, which is not competitive in this market. The agency lured me with a salary on the lower end of my range by offering contingent bonuses such as a sign-on bonus after I complete my first 90 days, then another bonus after six months, and another one at my first anniversary. Unfortunately, the agency partners let me go two weeks before the 90 days resulting in me not receiving my sign-on bonus. The agency partners also retaliated against me for filing unemployment by protesting my claim to try and prevent me from getting that benefit, which was very evil and nasty work and honestly was the cherry on top of my terrible experience at this unprofessional establishment. In conclusion, I would NOT recommend working at CONNECTIVE Agency due to the lack of diversity, poor and inexperienced leadership, disorganization, mistreatment, and toxic work environment.

Connective Agency Response

Hi there, we regret that the position did not work out. Our team includes seasoned, tenured professionals who have been part of the agency for many years and successfully grown their careers here. We are a minority woman-owned business and our team is quite diverse with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and cultures. It is a fast-paced environment for sure, which we are very transparent about with prospective teammates. We are disappointed and honestly hurt that you chose to misrepresent the agency, our team and culture in your review. You should not have any issues with your unemployment application. We completed the documentation and paperwork required in a timely manner so you should have everything you need. Perhaps the Texas Workforce Commission can help guide you with that process. We wish you the best in your career journey and hope that you find an opportunity that is rewarding and fulfilling.

Pros

Small but mighty agency. The talent here is unmatched. The work is interesting and you gain a lot of valuable first hand experience that's helped shaped me as a marketing professional. The cherry on top for me is the people I get to work with (both internal and on the client side). They care about you and hold you accountable to be the best that you can be.

Cons

As is most agencies, it's fast-paced and requires you to go deep and be open to learning. If that's not your thing, you're probably not going to enjoy working here.

Pros

Catered lunches and hybrid work schedule

Cons

The complete lack of onboarding at all makes the learning curve when joining the organization extremely steep. You are immediately thrown into the fire and expected to understand every process and system the company uses right away. I understand that it is a small company and the demand is high but their should be more of an on ramp for new employees to pick up on how the company operates. I was only with the company for 5 weeks and in that time 2 copy writers left or were let go. Then immediately after I left 2 designers left and another copy writer left. They pull the rip cord on people extremely fast and don't really allow for much of a learning curve or breaking in period. There is very obviously a clique thats largely in charge of things and if you don't follow and try to be buddies with them your not going to succeed here. All-in-all I had a pretty miserable experience working here for even the limited time that I did.
