Pros

A paycheck and that nirvana feeling after quitting

Cons

I learned quickly that no amount of money was worth working for Cheryl Harris. Because it is small company and run by Mrs. Harris, there will be no changes in the near future. The job itself was fine, but her management is the problem. When I was first considering accepting this job I read the other reviews but thought they were just coming from angry past employees. I thought I could handle a few negative comments. Nobody can handle her rude, condescending, hateful comments and attitude. She goes through your trash and emails, she purchases personal items with the company credit card, and she doesn't care about your well-being. The list goes on and on...you just have to trust these reviews and know no matter what it is not worth accepting a position here. And if you are already there and just seeing this now, I wish you luck on your job search!

Pros

There is lots of diversity in the position, so no day is the same. If you like association management and want to be a generalist, you'll find opportunities to hone your skills in communications, meeting management, administration, and more. There are many, many policies and procedures in place, which can be very helpful, but you have to be able to find them and know when you're going to need them because you need to hit the ground running.

Cons

The salary is very low in comparison to the expectations and responsibilities and there are no benefits. As stated by others, the owner/president has very exacting standards and "micro-management" isn't an inaccurate way to describe the work environment. Lots of last minute requirements puts the burden on the administrator to product error-free work within a very short time frame.

Pros

This is a construction association management company for several associations in the state. There are normal operational activities going on each month; database and membership to manage, association meetings, dinners, board meetings, etc. There are also events/activities happening to make it interesting; education conferences, out of town meetings, and special occasion events. The opportunity is there to put as much as you like into your job and continue to learn new things.

Cons

This is a small company doing a big job. New ideas are shot down. Liability is a major concern about everything, even someone walking across the property. The whole operation is at the whim of the owner, who can be tyranical and abusive. At times it would be considered a hostile environment. There are no benefits at all. No bonus at all. Just a paycheck.
