Pros
I had the opportunity to draft letters to the client, an opportunity I lacked at my old position. I learned about the process of patent prosecution and other procedures of intellectual property law. Free milk in the fridge. The Keurig coffee maker. I had the ability to leave pretty much every evening at 5. The view from the office. Average salary and a wealth of tasty, yet expensive restaurants nearby.
Cons
There was a GROSS lack of organized and formalized training in my role from the firm. My letters were constantly and needlessly reviewed and revised by a partner who had little to no concrete people, communication, and management skills. He used his position in an attempt to devalue and degrade people in an effort to puff up his own ego. This partner focused more on asinine syntax and word choice changes in letters than on the goal of timely informing the client of the statuses of their patents. There was a fundamental lack of consistency and communication when it came to expectations and instructions about my job responsibilities.
