Pros

Working for Craving English has honestly been one of the most meaningful and rewarding work experiences I have had. The company has created such a warm, supportive, and people-focused environment, both for students and teachers. One of the biggest strengths of Craving English is the sense of community. You never feel like you are working alone. There is always support available, whether it is from mentors, teacher leaders, admin, or fellow teachers. The team genuinely cares about helping teachers grow, feel confident, and succeed in their roles. The students are also such a joy to work with. Lessons feel personal, engaging, and purposeful, and it is incredibly rewarding to see students grow in confidence over time. Craving English places real value on connection, communication, and creating a safe space for students to learn, which makes teaching feel meaningful rather than transactional. I also really appreciate the company’s focus on teacher development. There are regular opportunities to learn, reflect, improve, and receive guidance. Feedback is given in a supportive way, and there is a strong culture of continuous growth rather than criticism. Another major positive is the flexibility and online work structure, which allows teachers to work with students from different backgrounds while still feeling part of a connected team. Overall, Craving English is a company with a lot of heart. It is clear that the people behind it care deeply about education, students, teachers, and the learning experience as a whole. I feel proud to be part of a team that is doing such meaningful work.

Cons

The only real challenges I have experienced are more connected to the nature of online teaching and time zones than to the company itself. As I am based in South Africa, the peak teaching hours in Costa Rica fall very late for me, often between around 1am and 5am South African time. This means I am not always able to take advantage of the busiest teaching slots. However, there are still opportunities to teach during more reasonable hours, so it is not impossible to build a schedule. It is simply something international teachers need to be aware of when considering availability. Another thing to keep in mind is that a full teaching schedule is not guaranteed. Student bookings can be fluid and may change depending on different factors, such as vacation periods, student availability, financial circumstances, or students pausing or ending their lessons. This is quite normal in online education, but it does mean teachers need to be flexible and understand that hours can sometimes fluctuate. Overall, these are not deal-breakers for me, but they are realistic points to consider. Craving English is still a wonderful company to work for, especially for teachers who value connection, support, flexibility, and meaningful student relationships.

Pay--granted, it's fair if you live outside of the US.
