Pros

Good to get started as a brand new PT or sales team member. Friendly members and decently well equipped gym. Clean environment thanks to the wonderful janitor: Alex who works tirelessly to keep the place looking immaculate.

Cons

Almost zero benefits as a trainer, no healthcare or 401k match or anything else, part time work. Meager 25% discount on overpriced supplements and dorky apparel. Most of the clients end up with a select few buddies of the membership sales team. All others hustle and barely have any hours and thus earn eight to ten hours of minimum wage for "non-session" hours, plus San Mateo minimum wage + session comp when working with clients. If they hit the monthly 2000 or 2500 dollar sales goal they end up with 10% of that, i.e. 200 to 250 dollars. So most paychecks (semi monthly if I recall) I would end up earning 650-800 dollars and once a month I would get my 200-1000 dollars sales commission compensation, which after taxes ends up being even less. On top of getting seriously under-compensated you will be expected to hustle people into buying the overpriced supplements for - yet again - a very low commission rate. I used to work nearly every day and had to move my schedule around for clients, but was barely able to get enough work to keep my head above water. Definitely be prepared to work a second job or do Uber on the side, especially if you live an adult life with the expenses of this area factored in. Be prepared to work with ex-cons and generally shady people who do illegal drugs on the job, take steroids and sexually harass women and get away with it, just get moved around to different locations and demoted right and left. Avoid this place if you value your finances and sanity. I did a bunch of work for no pay, which is part of the reason why I had such good sales despite having very few clients and even got in trouble for giving my clients extra attention after their sessions and even after I had charged them hundreds of dollars for training sessions. Even though some trainers will only meet with two clients a day we are expected to keep sessions to 50 minutes or less and can't even talk to clients off the clock according to the manager who worked there for six months and started bossing me around and writing me up right and left. One more thing: they used to hire way too many trainers, far beyond what was warranted to meet client demand. Then when we didn't hit our goal we got this annoying pep talk from this tatted up, arrogant manager who was a complete sociopath.

Pros

Most of the employees easy to work with. Dawn was also great to work for. Everyone's attitudes where absolutely great... minus 1

Cons

I was told I was going to be full time. I had quit my other job because I was asked to be more flexible. Yet the schedule was a set schedule 9 to 1 . 20 hours a week 9$ an hour after 6 months I asked when will I go full time. The response was the custodian positions are only part time. Yet it was listed as full. I was told to quit my job because I needed to be fully available.. ?dawn was not the hiring person who hired me. I came here today year of 2026 because I recently saw a job posting saying custodian positions full time.?... so in here warning because its exactly what I saw when I got hired... full time..... I made 180 a week. Befor taxes. There was one trainer who told me I needed to vacuum a dust bunny but there was a man working out there i asked him it's ok to vacuum he said let me do my set. She snapped her finger and said do it now 😳...the customer got up looked at me looked at her and said I honestly want to not be at this gym any more. Then looked at me and said I know your doing what your told .
