Pros
Pay was above average, however I was on casual contract for almost 2 years, which meant I could be let go anytime. Location is pretty good in West End Brisbane, close to the River and Transport. Lots of new apartments been built around the area so not hard to find a place to stay. You get to learn and become a generalist, because the team is so small. Workstations were decent.
Cons
Producers don't listen and act on concerns, instead they try to change your mind and say the problem is with you and there really aren't any problems. Too many production staff and leads with poor technical knowledge. Not enough people to actually work on the shots. at one point it was around 2 workers to one production staff. When things don't work out, the finger pointing starts instead of working together to find a solution. Problems get swiped under the carpet because no one wants to speak up to production, when delivery date comes, workers have to do crazy over time. Even for such a small shop, 12 - 15 hour days were not uncommon. Unresponsive to showreel requests after you leave, also waiting for some tax documents from them 3 months after leaving. The projects are mostly uninspiring and very low budget, which means you won't get any good shots for your showreel. Dealing with producers on contract matters is a terrible experience, worst I've experienced in any workplace. They will literally give you an offer on the last day of your contract and expect you to sign it.
