Pros
Stable work. Comfy office. Decent benefits. Nice people, except for management, so I found out after resigning.....(see cons)
Cons
Note: Following story took place in Summer of 2016.
>Return from ESL abroad to living at home
>applying to grad schools
>get hired here for $13/hr
>work 9 months writing SEO pages, crappy press releases which nobody reads, only computers read
>manager sits 3 feet away from me 40 hours a week verifying all my work, develop decent working relationship
>work 9 months, never late, one sick day, spend 5 hours a day working, 3 on reddit
>get fellowship to study, say i'm leaving, do my 2 weeks'
>move to new city, ask boss for recommendation to new job
>smug tone of voice
>Me: what's going on
>Boss:"you really shouldn't have written that glassdoor review"
>Me: what
>Boss: "you said our CEO was incompetent. he said he tried to call you and text you but never heard back from you"
>Me: I didn't write anything on that crappy site. Uhhh I check my phone every 5 minutes, didn't hear anything. Why don't you judge me by 9 months hard work over some anonymous post on a site no one cares about?
>Boss: "Well we all thought it was you because the review was well-written. Here's CEO's # why don't you call and explain the situation."
>I hang up
>Hmm maybe I should actually write a review. Nah.
>1.5 years later:
>Friend says I should post this as a warning to others. Now I am actually writing a negative review for how you've treated me.
Also, as a content writer, the elements you write will NOT improve SEO ratings (company lies to clients to retain them).
