Pros

Free snacks. Nice office space.

Cons

They find ways to take your commission. They give outwardly, but could care less about you as an employee. Do not, under any circumstances bring up your concerns. They claim they want you to speak freely so they can improve, but when anyone does, they are let go quickly following. You are required to get them 5 star reviews and if you don’t, they withhold large amounts of commission. A merchant could have 4+ years left to pay back their contract, but if you don’t collect the balance within 1 year, they keep the commission past 1 year. If you say anything internally or externally that they feel is anything but positive, you will be let go for being toxic. They have been busted multiple times favoring certain collectors by giving them all the good accounts and keeping others from a chance at making decent money, then will let you go for underperforming. They claim to care about mental health. They don’t! The CEO gives money and helps people yet it is so he can get the credit and not actually for the act of giving. People will thank him for his generosity, yet he will tell you to not give him credit, and follow it with patting himself on the back for 45 minutes plus post it all over social media and ask all the employees to like, comment and share it so he can be seen. He tries to get on every board but nobody can stand him. He loves to hear himself talk. He does not like constructive feedback. He will instead challenge that is is you that is the problem. He truly thinks people respect his opinion, but anyone who has known him rolls their eyes when he talks and the new people don’t know any better and eat it up. He is a sheep in wolves clothing. I am told the company who once cared for people who are in debt is now a place that is fueled by greed. It is a miserable place to work. Seems great until you start seeing the real agenda. Employees who are smart just smile and pretend all is well and don’t dare speak truth because they know what happens if you do. They don’t care about women or people of color. The culture they demand is unrealistic and fake.

Pros

Good work environment and co-workers, people-first attitude, growth environment, opportunities for people to take on responsibility and be seen/recognized. Professional leadership development opportunities. Gym reimbursement. Mental Health reimbursement. Free Nurse Line. Free chiropractic care. For collectors, uncapped commissions (they can make more than the C-suite). Implementing EOS right now and have a John Maxwell coach helping lead the company.

Cons

Growing pains. Growing a small business can be extra painful especially for specific employees. We've outgrown people's ability to lead in their position and that's been hard to walk through. The company has also failed some employees over the years (not enough training, not enough feedback, etc.) None of this is intentional or malicious. I saw this at my last job too. What's good is the company continues to get better. New leaders with time. Comp for the collectors is great, but you have to earn it. Comp for the rest of the staff seems to be middle of the road. Benefits are better than required so that can offset some of this. Flexibility and a good work environment is also helpful.
