Career development isn't great and salary reviews are opaque.
Pros
Great salary and bonuses (on site and bi-annual) - i can tell you the company paid much higher than industry stds, good 401k and health insurances, dedicated mining engineers, laid-back working environment, fun people and management, respectful and trust like family
Cons
Didn't offer life insurance yet (heard they currently working on it tho) and company share for after working only 2 or more years.
Pros
The Work Hours being reasonable
Cons
I worked at Deswik as an Office Administrator. The responsibilities I was expected to manage were very different from the role described in the job listing. I received VERY minimal training or guidance, yet I was tasked with multiple critical areas, including accounting, licensing, office administration, and planning international events, despite having no prior experience in some of these areas. I dedicated myself fully to the role, organizing events, structuring administrative processes, and supporting the office in multiple ways. Despite my effort and competence, I was heavily micromanaged. For example, every time I planned an event, the employee who was later promoted from my role frequently required last-minute changes, making it difficult to complete tasks effectively. Mistakes I made while learning new responsibilities were criticized, and ultimately I was dismissed with the reason given as “not a good fit for the role.” While working there, I also personally witnessed other colleagues being dismissed without clear reasons or adequate explanation, which contributed to a stressful and unpredictable work environment. I also experienced social exclusion, particularly because I do not drink alcohol, which made integrating into the team challenging. Overall, the role was high-pressure only from being micromanaged by someone, whose position I filled, that in my opinion could not let go of me doing a better job. As well as multiple responsibilities outside the job description, limited support, and inconsistent feedback. I felt that I performed well, contributed across many areas, and met the expectations given, yet I was still dismissed unfairly. Prospective candidates should carefully consider before accepting a position.
