Pros

Great venues and some brilliant people, interesting work.

Cons

Board meetings are screaming matches by directors with verbal abuse directed at staff, junior and senior. Micromanagement and finger pointing at all levels, leading to anxiety and stress for staff. Initially everyone seems nice, however over a short time the culture of stress becomes apparent. Offices consist of non-approved converted cupboards and former toilet cubicles with open ceilings revealing ceiling pipes such as sewage facilities and air conditioning. Offices are overcrowded, chairs are cheap and OHS is non existent for administrative staff. There are no windows at all for staff. Valued staff regularly disappear (fired and escorted from premises) with little or no notice or explanation and remain staff are told nothing perpetuating the culture of fear. Those who survive are adept at office politics or flying under the radar. Any staff member challenging the status quo is "removed" quickly and quietly. Directors are prone to explosive outbursts more at place in a kindergarten than a workplace, using the phrase of "passionate family company" to excuse these unprofessional episodes. Staff are filmed through CCTV around the clock, finger scanned on arrival and departure. There are signs around the offices extolling the values and mission statements as well as rules and regulations, none of which appear to apply to the owners.

Doltone House Response

A number of the items raised in the above have been addressed within Doltone House, and are part of a number of projects and initiatives spanning across the past 3 years - some of which have come to fruition in years 2 & 3 (after this staff member had already left). Not everyone is suited to every work environment out there - there needs to be a match between the person and the work environment, and in this instance there seemed to be a mismatch. To speak to some of the items raised in the review: * We have a manager development program in place to help develop and foster the right type of skills expected in our managers and staff * We've been regularly maintaining office equipment and office furniture * Not everyone can have a window seat - someone, somewhere does need to sit closer to the inside of an office, however we are huge proponents of natural light and bright workspaces and no desk is situated more than 5m from an external window * Re: staff 'disappearing' - not everyone is privy to the internal workings of individual job roles and staff performance. We ensure that every employee is treated fairly and equitably, and in most cases, the employee is provided with a number of opportunities to improve their performance - to other parties (including peers and other staff) don't know the full story and will speculate. Our goal is to provide a workplace that is fun and enjoyable whilst also presenting a challenge to everyone who joins Doltone House. We’re a fast-paced environment and this does not suit some people who join our team. Thanks for the opportunity to share your feedback and to allow us to respond. Regards, Andrew

Pros

Nothing honestly, do not work here, worst place ever

Cons

- underpaid - breaks not on time 1st break will be after 8-9 hours of working non stop Only 1 30 mins of break for a 10-12 + hours shift - rude and unprofessional supervisors & doltone house venue managers and management Doltone house made staff work 2 different shifts with only 6 hours gap between them for sleep and travel time so a night shift then 6 hours gap and then morning shift Owner of doltone house very stingy, turns off aircon for staff who work in 35+ degrees heat and alot of manual and physical labour like carrying multiple chairs on your bank and tables etc The most unprofessional, rude and should not be working at doltone house are event supervisors & venue operations manager Few inappropriate male staff members at doltone house like the previous venue operations manager and also in the doltone house kitchen -disgusting behaviour towards female and sexual harassment This company gets away with alot of inappropriate things as 90% of the staff are new in Australia, barley know English, don’t their work rights and employee conditions suck as breaks, pay etc
