Pros

Money could be really good but you will work 200 hours a month and it's a total gamble. Management has their favorites that they give leads to and likes to flood the floor with more salesmen than needed simply so they can drive down commission checks. You have a more lax environment as it's mostly guys and no one is concerned about HR.

Cons

This is the only job I have ever worked where the management works against the employees. They will change the commission scale to make it worse for the salesmen and better for the house. It's a cutthroat business. You can have amazing months and then have months where you may only sell 5 cars and can't make a paycheck Your personal life will suffer because you're working 11-hour days and sometimes stay later depending on how late your customer is in finance or negotiations. You will work every single Saturday. It's the epitome of the "good ole boy" system where rules don't apply equally and jobs will go to buddies. There's zero marketing. They have an archaic view of everything. From redundant meetings to sales techniques. You'll often wonder if you're living in the 90s when working at a dealership. The amount of taxes taken out of your commission checks is astronomical. The insurance is sky high. Your conscience will be tested working in sales and you'll work as a middle man throughout the sales process. You'll start out
