Pros
-Teacher appreciation. The school came into some unexpected money at one point, and all teachers received an Amazon gift card. -Fair pay. This was my highest paying teaching job. -Small classes. I had 11 students. -Supplies. I was given packs of paper every few weeks, dropped off in my classroom- I never even had to ask for it. Staplers, markers, tape... I never had to purchase my own supplies. -Support. We had meetings once a month that were timely and informative, but didn't last too long or go overboard. -Clean. The cleaning crew was top notch and kept the trash managed, the rooms clean, and the restrooms pristine. I genuinely enjoyed working here and felt that this was a great environment in which to teach. Would have stayed for years if I hadn't needed to relocate.
Cons
-Breaks. I only had one planning period or break during the day when I wasn't with my students, and it was difficult to get everything done that I needed to get done during that time. However, I compensated for this by creating a "quiet play time," during which the students could play with toys in the classroom as long as they kept their voices down so that I could grade papers and concentrate. It worked out!
