Pros
Nice office (but bad location) Some very talented individuals
Cons
- Inexperienced & arrogant managers, frustration often taken out on their staff - CEO held a company meeting soon after I started. During the meeting he boasted about how much money the company was making and joked that about a third of staff was unnecessary. Soon after this he used company money to go on an around the world holiday which was described as a ‘business trip’ and then struggled to pay his staff on time for the following two months. - Track record over years of late or forgotten salary payments with no explanation or apology. - CEO has a very bad temper and can become verbally and physically aggressive towards staff. - CTO is very resistant to change and does not follow most modern development practices although he doesn’t seem to mind or care which practices team members use. - CTO is completely unqualified for his position and only seems capable of writing spaghetti code. - CTO operates as CTO, lead developer and back-end team lead and will not delegate tasks. - CTO once spent 20 minutes gleefully showing everyone in the office a website that sold novelty sex toys because of how ‘weird’ they were. Staff are often promised pay rises or promotions and are then strung along with no resolution. - HR department is worse than useless. Often obstructive, will not reply to messages or emails. Will undermine other directors and make you question who your line manager actually is. - Lack of support given to junior members of staff and very little on boarding or training.
