Pros

Firm will pay for CPA materials, pay is not too far behind market standard compared to some other regional firms, and benefits are good.

Cons

Micromanagement, unrealistic budgets that have no flexibility, too many hours during busy season with mandatory Saturdays even if you’ve met your billables during the weekdays, lack of opportunities for growth depending on department, and lack of consistent training where many things are done completely different or with different standards based on different managers. Witnessed strong favoritism and hostility in several circumstances that combined with the stagnant promotion paths, low yearly raises, and the tension in teams, have led to endless turnover. Teams are not always cohesive and don’t work together well.

Pros

Good amount of holidays and PTO. Lifestyle spending account and remote work were great.

Cons

In an attempt to get me to leave, little by little, my job duties were taken over by others in the department. Partners let this happen and did nothing to help me. Eventually, they eliminated my role. I documented multiple instances where the work environment was incredibly toxic but no one cared. HR never even contacted me for an exit interview. My experience was that if you did not fit into the boys club you would not succeed. There was a culture of micro-aggressions, cruelty, and badmouthing others when they weren't in the room and excluding anyone who did not fit their views.
