Pros

If you can quickly process information and jump right in on tasks you will learn a lot of information in a short amount of time which is a great resume builder. Many of your coworkers are amazing people who are incredibly smart.

Cons

- Management opinion of a full-time work week is 45-50 hours and overtime (>50 hours) is expected during the 3 to 4 month winter busy season. - There seemed to be different expectations for some employees than others, for example during a performance review, I was told that the expectation was that I should be a joy to work with and appear happier at all times. I was also told that my facial expressions made me seem unapproachable. - When I would try to give an opinion based on information I was processing, I was told repeatedly that management believes my department deals with decisions and does not make decisions. Which is very atypical of the department at other companies and made me feel we were undervalued. - Teams are consistently understaffed due to high turnover and lack of hiring. - Almost every employee who leaves this company will do so on bad terms. People are consistently burned out or pushed out. - Management has historically made decisions that show a lack of appreciation for hard work such as: demoting an employee, hiring a new boss without any warning for a department, lowering the salary of an employee and/or hiring a replacement behind an employee's back. - It is expected for employees to publicly call out their co-workers in group chats and management will do the same even when a private conversation would be more appropriate. Keep in mind this is an open office environment, so you are calling out someone who sits 3 feet away from you. Overall, this company is toxic and communication is not open, honest or respectful. If you choose to work here then get in, learn as much as possible and get out after a year.

Pros

Elevation is a rare entity in the energy trading world and an overall great place to work. The trading & ops team is very supportive and genuinely team-oriented. Management not only fosters a positive work environment, but is also transparent and trustworthy. People who exhibit hard work, humility, and entrepreneurial spirit will actually advance to new career opportunities (unlike other trading houses which often reward competitive / ego-driven employees, or give empty promises to new hires about career scope). If you make mistakes or are overwhelmed with workload, the team is empathetic and will help where they can. On top of all of this, Elevation is supportive of the green energy transition, which colors internal discussions and keeps things interesting. If you get an offer, I would give Elevation a chance. It is a dynamic and forward-looking company. I think you will be surprised to the upside!

Cons

Some administrative programs are extremely difficult to use

Pros

The people are the best part. I got to work with a ton of smart, savvy, helpful and overall great people. The pay was well above average for the position that I took. I had great exposure and experience to the accounting field in a way I never had before and I learned so much in such a short time. What I learned at Elevation set me up for success in my subsequent career choices!

Cons

There were some issues with communication about performance and expectations. Most of this was due to the growing pains of a start up and I still felt like a valued part of the company. The annual evaluation system could have been better structured. I feel like too much influence was given to the direct manager.
