skills development, travel a lot, lots of hands on experience, on the job training, many different clients in private and public/federal agencies, interesting and different variety of jobs/locations/clients/hazards.
Cons
outside of normal set shift schedule (mon-fri 8-5) you are responding on call 24/7/365 to a 400-mile radius response area with a 15-minute turn around time and no rotation of on-call schedule, it is impossible to have a life. pay rate is lower than nearly every other competing company for similar roles. good luck getting a raise. "Safety 3rd" was a common sarcastic comment heard a lot, take that for whatever you think about it.
