Pros

Many freelancers they hire have really interesting backgrounds and are great to learn from Some people in the office are genuinely nice

Cons

Incredibly reactionary company that takes on new work faster than they can hire. Your role, team structure, and the type of work you cover will change at whim Understaffing is a major issue, so expect to be pressured to work after hours and during your holiday and sick leave with no compensation Favouritism is an issue, and determines how much or little support you get in the company I would encourage anyone interviewing at this company to get everything that is said or implied during the interview process in writing. The only people who seem to have a good work life balance have legally enforceable boundaries There is some blatant racism and a lot of micro-aggressive behaviour in the office. They have never had DE&I policy and are currently asking an external company to develop one. Even though they've hired more BAME members of staff, not much is being done about the long term staff members who are known to be problematic but still receive preferential treatment Bonuses and pay increases are rare or non existent, when I asked a few long term employees how often performance bonuses or raises happen every year they laughed in at how ridiculous my question was Many people have been stuck in their role for a very long time, and discussions on career progression don't result in tangible plans or support from senior management They have the toxic environment and culture of many larger companies but without the benefits or financial compensation

Firstly, we’re sorry that your experience with us hasn’t been positive. While we try very hard to give all our amazing team a fantastic environment to work in, we know we can’t always get it right and for that we’re sorry. To address a couple of the points raised: You’re correct that the build back in the live events industry post pandemic has been intense. There have been periods where we, like much of the industry, have been under resourced and relied too heavily on our team while trying to continue to meet the needs of our clients. We’ve increased our headcount by 105% in the last year and we’ve put in new processes which we are very confident will address those issues. We’ve also closed the office on additional days to give our hard-working team some time back and acknowledge and thank them all for their amazing efforts over the last few months. As you’ve pointed out, we are currently working with an external D&I consultancy, not to write a D&I policy but to undertake a full and in-depth audit. It’s a very detailed piece of research that will inform strategy and policy. We have some great data from the surveys and internal focus groups. We intend to make this all open source along with our D&I stats and gender pay gap report once it’s complete. We’re committed to creating a genuinely inclusive environment and actively encourage feedback and open communication in line with our company values. We have multiple channels for our team to voice concerns through our anonymous employee surveys, weekly pulse checks and 1-2-1s and we certainly welcome robust feedback and encourage difficult conversations. We’re sad and sorry that you feel your experience has been a negative one and we will take on board your comments and wish you the very best. The Leadership Team

Pros

I joined Event Concept in early 2025, and honestly, it’s been a breath of fresh air. From the very first interview, I felt like I could actually be myself, and that hasn’t changed since. Things that I love: - Genuinely kind, creative, and funny people who care about the work and each other - Opportunities to do more than just your day job (Green Team, Culture Committee, events etc.) - Great opportunities to grow

Cons

- Like many in the events and creative industries, the pace can be intense and priorities shift fast - You’ll need to be adaptable and proactive, because it’s a great place to grow, but not one where things stand still
