Pros

So many projects available to work on. There are a lot of intelligent and creative problem solvers here at Exponent, which makes for an intellectually stimulating work atmosphere. As a recent PhD grad, you really feel valued and are given a lot of freedom to explore different kinds of work. Company is very generous in its investment in your personal development.

Cons

Burnout is real here. Everyone talks about it and it takes some getting used to. Finding a work-life balance requires careful planning. There's plenty of work to go around and watching your coworkers drown in work makes you want to help, which can leave you feeling overwhelmed. The corporate structure is modelled similarly to other consulting and law firms, which does require you to log your billable time each week.

Pros

Many consultants successfully use Exponent as a stepping stone to larger tech companies. The project work can sometimes be very interesting and some consultants appreciate overtime and bonuses for long hours (albeit many feel they would earn more overall compensation at larger tech companies).

Cons

The company has very high expectations of its consultants and doesn't always provide the resources necessary to achieve their expectations. In order to grow after the first few years, consultants are generally expected to generate their own business, but some junior consultants feel they are not fairly given credit for business they help bring in. Many consultants feel the performance rewards are too delayed.
