Pros

Attractive company appearance and cool videos on the website. Some locations have nice offices. Job can be interesting and challenging besides the high pressure.

Cons

I have so much to say, but here is a quick summary: Exponent has serious internal communication problems and a troublesome business model. Micromanagement is observed everywhere. The company is so afraid of employee retaliation, yet they treated them badly during layoffs. Recent mass hirings then mass layoffs have proven the instability of the company. Its Business Development doesn't really "develop" businesses for the company. The consultants do- the scientists and the engineers have to engage businesses, bring in clients, and maintain business relations- all that besides what they already have to do in their professions. Recent mass layoffs have gotten rid of lots critical skills that the company and their clients will appreciate. Again, miscommunication is a serious issue. The management lacks of insightfulness.

Pros

Many consultants successfully use Exponent as a stepping stone to larger tech companies. The project work can sometimes be very interesting and some consultants appreciate overtime and bonuses for long hours (albeit many feel they would earn more overall compensation at larger tech companies).

Cons

The company has very high expectations of its consultants and doesn't always provide the resources necessary to achieve their expectations. In order to grow after the first few years, consultants are generally expected to generate their own business, but some junior consultants feel they are not fairly given credit for business they help bring in. Many consultants feel the performance rewards are too delayed.
