Pros

Decent pay, good coworkers, that’s about it

Cons

Quite literally came into work and feared for my job everyday, if you thrive off fear then by all means work here, but if you’re a sane human I’d steer away. Was here for 5 months and was let go out of the blue, the KPI’s they expect from you on a month to month basis is insane, they expect you to make 120 phone calls a day and then also book thousands of dollars in freight shipments a month, there’s just not enough time in the day. I’m sure someone from fifth wheel will comment on this and say “it’s a cut throat business” but I know plenty of top performing reps that work their tails off everyday and are successful but still fear for their job because they don’t call 120 people a day. You put so much emphasis on culture but when I told people I worked at Fifth Wheel Freight they had genuine concern for me because the reputation this company has for hire to fire. If I could leave 0 stars I would

Thank you for sharing your feedback. A few points of clarification for anyone reading this review: The KPIs referenced here, including call activity and profit goals, are outlined explicitly in the interview process and reinforced throughout training. On call volume specifically, the hard daily KPI is 80 calls, not 120. And for any rep consistently hitting their profit goals, call counts alone are never the basis for a performance conversation. We also want to be transparent around our communication as it relates to under-performance. Every new rep receives monthly check-ins with their direct manager and Director of Sales Development. Performance standing is communicated clearly and regularly in these meetings. Team members are made aware of performance concerns by management at least several weeks before any employment decision is made, have access to their own performance data and percent-to-goal progress at all times, and are given plans to improve performance before employment decisions are made. A termination should never come as a “surprise.” This increased communication around performance is something FWF has worked on tirelessly over the last several years. Over the last several months, over 90% of our new reps either met or exceeded their call KPIs, which tells us that the expectations are both clear and achievable. We wish you well in your next chapter.

Pros

There are too many pros to working at Fifth Wheel that it's hard to choose! The number one pro to working here is the leadership that comes along with it! You have amazing people there to coach you daily from the time you first step in the door! You won't ever feel like you're lost or alone for the duration of your career here. Outside of just work, we do some really fun activities throughout the year! I haven't had a dull day here since I started! They really show how much they appreciate our hard work!

Cons

I honestly can’t find any cons to working here!

Pros

A paycheck. Misery loves company. There is potential for advancement.

Cons

This company's attendance and WFH policies are problematic even in the best of conditions. During winter weather advisories, those policies become truly sinister. Employees are classified as salary exempt with an official start time of 8 am. If you are not in the office, sat down at your desk, logged in, and actively working by 8:01 there can and will be consequences. It does not matter what the circumstances are, what precautions you took to avoid this, what you communicated, who you communicated it to, or your track record. There is not a single job in the office that requires in office work. However, WFH during winter weather advisories is not permitted to everyone. Who can or cannot WFH is random, unofficial, and can vary between two people with the same position, tenure, performance, and track record. Additionally, there are misalignments between official tardiness policies, and tardiness communication expectation amongst various members of management. The most common expectation is to alert all of management, including the highest levels, of the potential of tardiness asap via email and prior to said tardiness. Again, regardless of circumstances. A phone call is not acceptable, this includes if you might be one minute late and you are driving. This policies are incredibly unsafe, and anti-human. Another reminder, this apply to employees classified as salary exempt and not even slightly exaggerated.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. If you are a current employee as noted, we strongly encourage you to bring these concerns directly to your manager or HR teams so they can be addressed constructively. To clarify, our business opens at 8 am, which is an expectation communicated to all employees. Many roles, particularly those in sales, are performance-driven and time-sensitive, so punctuality is very important in this industry. That said, we recognize that unforeseen circumstances happen, and all we ask is that employees communicate delays in accordance with our attendance guidelines, which are outlined in detail in week one of employment. When employees do experience unforeseen circumstances, our focus is on transparency, communication, and teamwork, not punishment. Regarding weather-related situations, employee safety is always a priority. During recent weather advisories in Michigan, leadership issued multiple company-wide work-from-home days to minimize risk - all employees were instructed to work from home, regardless of role, tenure, etc. When weather conditions are severe, we evaluate circumstances carefully and make decisions that support both employee safety and operational continuity. That said, if you ever disagree with weather-related work-from-home decisions and do not feel safe to leave your home, we provide all full-time employees nearly three weeks of PTO upon employment that you are welcome to use. Work-from-home eligibility is actually not random or unofficial - we have official work-from-home policies that are based on role structure, tenure, performance, etc. Our Carrier Relations team, tenured sales reps, spot team, specialized teams, and more have official hybrid schedules. Most of these team members are working from home, officially, two days per week. Our entry-level sales roles are designed to be fully on-site to support training, mentorship, and collaboration. These expectations (as well as the opportunity to earn work from home days with tenure) are communicated throughout the hiring process so candidates can make informed decisions before accepting job offers. We recognize that workplace policies may not align with everyone's preferences, but our expectations are communicated clearly in both the hiring and onboarding process for new team members. Our policies exist to create a consistent, safe, and high-performing workplace, and we stand behind the expectations we set. Again, we highly encourage current team members to raise concerns through established internal channels such as anonymous HR submissions, HR open door policies, and our CEO's designated open office hours, so they can be reviewed and addressed appropriately.
