Pros

The company, at one time, made great films. It is an active sales agency, selling feature films to markets acrosss the world.

Cons

Chaotic, callous, disorganized leadership Overall reactionary, harsh work environment Most senior staff in film development have left over the last two years. Overall terrible company-wide communication and collaboration Senior staff is rarely recruited from outside the company, career advancement happens only through attrition, which does not generate the most qualified leadership Little to no opportunity for growth High attrition across most departments No interdepartmental mobility Low pay, comparative to other companies in the sector Little consideration for employee health or work/life balance

Pros

FilmNation has a robust slate of films, interns are able to access a network of executives and assistants and sharpen their script coverage skills.

Cons

FilmNation interns are unpaid, this is a resume internship. I was part of 30-odd unpaid interns in Los Angeles. No one knew my name, I felt a bit invisible and dehumanized by the employees, maybe it's their office culture. I felt that my intern supervisor resented me. I had difficulty setting up meetings with anyone. I've had internships within the industry that at least try to introduce us to the employees. I didn't come out of this internship with anything tangible besides a resume blurb and the contact information of people who probably don't recognize me, despite being in their office for months.
