Pros

Really good work life balance Salary ok some good benefits ok pension challenging work and opportunities to move around the business to learn mentoring programme

Cons

some of the 'leadership' team are a law unto themselves, and have created a seemingly jolly alliance comedy double act despite bringing in a perpetual consultation that has most of the employees at risk at all times. And they seem completely unchallenged by the other members of the leadership team (inc the CEO). The constant restructuring is unbelievable, for a firm of only 200 people. Do not work here if you value stability in your working life. The scheme has latched on to the public sector 1% year on year pay rises, despite the continual message that FSCS is completely independent of government. Don't believe everything about the people team, some of them are lovely. But the lead and his angry rottweiller side kick are absolutely toxic. CEO has been very good but is approaching retirement and is considered a lame duck by many. The strength of his leadership over his exec team is extremely questionable. The leadership team is a charisma vacuum.

Pros

Competitive salary compared to similar organisations

Cons

The culture of this organisation has deteriorated significantly recently. What was once a positive, flexible and collaborative environment has been replaced by one that is toxic, negative and one of blame. Senior leaders do not take accountability, refuse to make even the most basic of decisions and micro-manage at every opportunity, leaving everyone beneath them stressed, frustrated and fearful of making a mistake. The higher up the chain you go, the worse these problems are. The CEO and Executive have completely unrealistic expectations, change their minds continuously and refuse to listen to the opinions of the experts they have hired beneath them. Paired with company-wide loss of the ability to work compressed hours, rumours of 40% attendance in the office due to be rising to 60% and a stricter bonus policy, and you're left with a culture that is not only worse to work in but wants more out of you for less. There are still many dedicated and talented people working here, but the culture and leadership approach have made it a much less enjoyable place to work than it once was.

Pros

Work from home 3 days a week

Cons

Extremely slow decision making, lots of interference and lack of trust from inexperienced and self-centred senior leadership affecting productivity and morale. Lack of accountability and ownership with everyone wanting to be involved but nobody taking actual responsibility. People can't challenge absurd, unreasonable and unrealistic requests from senior management due to a culture of fear where it's more important to feed the ego and pander to the personality of a few senior leaders than it is to get work done. What senior leaders say in public about strategy and ways of working does not reflect how they act on a day to day basis.
