Pros

You know what's funny? I would have cited co-workers as being the only pro, but most of the good ones I remember working with have left, soooo.

Cons

Where do I start? First of all, the CEO has changed. LinkedIn has made that readily apparent over the last few weeks, despite not having interacted with FM in years. All these bad reviews calling out the CEO recently are referring to their current CSO, Chris - not Nathan. I don't know Nathan, so none of these refers to him. Did you know that, as CEO, Chris clipped his nails in his office, with the door open? It was WEIRD. Not only is that not a normal thing to do in the workplace, but also seemed like some sort of weird power play. I don't know, but made me uncomfortably (especially when the general consensus among the veterans was that "we just had to deal with it"). That aside, the pay was minimal and the workload absurb. It was bad years ago, so I can only imagine what it's like now. Despite the promises that came with every title change, you were left on your own to figure everything out and micromanaged to an extreme degree. I will never miss having to list out all my tasks/responsibilities from the day's work on BaseCamp - it was pointless. For newer employees, all this meant you risk burn-out early on. Should you say anything about needing help or assistance, somehow you became enemy #1 (my favorite was when Chris would take over the Monday morning meetings and make you out to be some kind of "example" in front of everyone without personally naming you). That, too, is not a normal occurence in the workplace. In fact, most would label that as "toxic." For those who have stuck around all these years, there are better jobs are out that pay for your worth and don't stretch you beyond human capacity. If you're still being given the ol' "over bandwidth" motivational falsehoods, it's really time to move on. All of that said, I'm so glad I left when I did. The grass really is greener on the other side.

Pros

I left Firm Media many years ago due to personal reasons, but the influence this company—and its people—have had on me has never faded. Even after my departure, I’ve remained close with many of the team members, especially the leadership. The CEO and CFO have never hesitated to support me, whether it was job applications or writing a recommendation letter for my master’s program. That kind of support is rare. Firm Media helped shape who I am professionally and personally. The company fosters a culture of genuine care and personal growth. Yes, you’re expected to put in the work (as with any great job), but if you show up and do your part, you’ll be met with unwavering support. Years later, I still keep in touch with many of the people there and continue to cheer on their growth from afar. It’s a truly special place—one that leaves a lasting impact long after you move on.

Cons

Leaders are going to be blunt with you, don't take it personal, it's not about you.

Pros

Earlier today, I received an email notifying me that Firm Media leadership had left a response attached to my original review of my experience with the company. Id like to share my thoughts about that. It’s true. Firm Media is a place that welcomes talent, diversity, and creativity. That part of his response is absolutely true. In addition to being talented, the people I worked with were hardworking, earnest, and genuinely cared about producing wonderful work for the company and their clients. Unfortunately , I saw so many of these people be worn down by management, myself included, with mind games, overwhelming workloads, and empty promises.

Cons

Hi! Real life former employee here. I left an honest review of MY experience at Firm Media a while back and I am, in fact, NOT a bot. I am hurt that would try to get my review removed and then, when unsuccessful with that, would leave a response on my review that attempts to diminish my voice. The common negative sentiment seen across these reviews isn’t due to some nefarious plot from a former disgruntled employee. It is, however, a mirror being held up to leadership and they aren’t comfortable knowing that they don’t really treat their people well. I wish they would sit with the discomfort and then learn from it. The frequency of the reviews in the past year closely matches the frequency of departures from the company. About FORTY people have left since 2023. That should be a wake up call, not the start of a conspiracy theory/witch hunt. Lastly, to speak to the anonymity of the people leaving reviews. It’s common knowledge among current and former employees that there have been threats of legal action to past employees. So, of course we want to be anonymous.
