Pros

The location of the office, easy commute while living in Midtown Manhattan!

Cons

Management lacks professional experience and has no clear-cut strategy aside from bringing in financial investors from Hong Kong after forcing the original creator and owner out of the company, but interestingly enough, she is now back! So great job gaining her trust and welcoming her back into Fortuna! It will be interesting to see the client's reaction after she has led everyone to believe she was squeezed out by the ceo. Unfortunately, the ground is always shifting at Fortuna, which I was warned by an industry veteran when I initially accepted employment here. While I was a major component in the auction numbers reaching a record high during my 16 months of employment, support from upper management was desperately lacking. I am so eager to see the trajectory of what the ceo says will be a billion-dollar company very soon! The young man who is positioned as CEO sees himself as the next Steve Jobs, and additionally, has absolutely no jewelry industry experience. The original partner packed up and left in the middle of the night. That should have been my first warning regarding my poor choice in accepting employment here. There are extreme demands for long hours with absolutely no benefits. Important data such as measuring the dollar values brought in by the acquisition team is not being shared. Baseless criticism is constantly being brought to the table by the inexperienced investor to control and manipulate the acquisition team, yet he additionally has absolutely NO jewelry industry experience. If you are considering employment here, be prepared to be manipulated, criticized and exploited, unless you are looking for sponsorship from a foreign country, then this is the ideal work situation. This company has a revolving door, and is not a company well suited as a long-term career for any experienced jewelry professional. Robbing peter to pay paul will soon catch up with the ceo. Look for better alternatives before even considering employment with Fortuna Auction. Working at Fortuna Auction, that is a true con!

Pros

a steady check sometimes. That's about it.

Cons

If you take a job working with this auction house, you are gambling with your reputation. It is all problems, drama, law suits, customers harassing you because the owners do not pay their consignors. The interview process is a joke with owners owners having zero clue as to what they are doing. With all the options in the jewelry business, don't be fooled by Fortuna, you will regret it like most people who made the wrong decision of working here.
