Negative Culture, High Turnover and Fear Based Leadership - Associate Director Forum Investment Group Employee Review

Pros

The company has tremendous people and offers a lot of flexibility. Management is open to new ideas and new product types which creates excitement in the workplace as every day is different.

Cons

The company lacks leadership and the direction is always changing. The fear based strategy from which the executives lead, leaves employees feeling undervalued and discouraged. There are little to no second chances given and employees are publicly shamed for mistakes. It is largely communicated that someone can be replaced and evidenced by the high turnover they are quick to hire and fire. Overall the culture of negativity, inappropriate comments and sexism not only impacts employees in the workplace but who they are outside of the workplace.

Pros

Leadership cares about people and have created a work hard, play hard environment. They strive for work-life balance for all of us and are flexible around schedules. I also appreciate our Townhalls and the level of transparency that is rare in a lot of companies.

Cons

It is not for everyone but I appreciate the fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Pros

I love working here and feel like I've finally found my home work-wise. Forum offers you the ability to have your voice and ideas heard and has a fun, collaborative culture where people really care about one another. It's a fast-paced place, so you've got to thrive in that kind of environment to thrive here - which I personally like. The firm is always looking for new opportunities and ways to stay ahead of the curve, which is something I value.

Cons

We're an entrepreneurial firm, which means we go where the opportunity is. Some people see this as lack of focus. Rather, I see it as being innovative and not beholden to doing things the way they've always been done "just because." We believe strongly in solid cultural fits, which has meant some turnover over the years. But the positive side of that is we have people who believe in and live our values and "stick".
