Dysfunctional company in need of a consistent strategy
Pros
With the company's entrepreneurial approach comes some serious drawbacks. Forum can never settle on a strategy, blowing like the wind depending on the CEO's mindset that particular day. At times employees are empowered and given high levels of responsibility, at other times they are micromanaged down to the smallest detail. Most employees are high-quality and good people, although the mix of backgrounds (from REIT corporate managers to highly entrepreneurial types) creates an incoherent culture that often seems confused.
Cons
Forum is an extremely difficult work environment, which is reflected in the approximately 75% annual turnover rate at the company's headquarters. The CEO is highly emotional and has a scattered focus - sometimes he cares intensely and other times he's nowhere to be found. Employees are consistently berated in front of other co-workers, leading to very uncomfortable workplace dynamics. Most employees criticize management openly and are actively looking for other opportunities.
