Cons
Poor Management and Leadership : My supervisor instructed me to take my team out for lunch and gave me a budget. Sit-down lunch in NYC is expensive. I put the budget she gave me on company card, picked up remaining tab on my own. She came down on me pretty hard for that. She also was micro-managing me and my team (from LA) like crazy to the point where I wanted to quit <2 months into the job and needed a mental health break. She scolded me for not knowing the video conference / phone system inside and out second week on job despite zero training on it. She also made me fly out to LA for orientation because she was going to a concert(!) Overbearing and overly demanding. Constantly correcting me and my team. Unable to resist sticking her nose into everything. Client services teams, for the most part, raised unnecessary red flags and were ALL OVER me and my team for how we operated. They rarely pushed back on client demands that were "out of scope" (went beyond terms of agreement). They really took the Nike mantra to heart - "Just do it." We were like a machine to them. High turnover in key positions. Lack of job security. One of my direct reports asked if they could be considered for an opening with another team at the company and I fully endorsed the move. That person was somehow ghosted internally. Another report was hoping to do video editing work, my requests to that team were met with silence. Unstable and stressful work environment Constant deadlines and high-pressure situations Toxic and abusive culture (mostly, NOT ALL, Account / Client Management Teams) Low Compensation / Below-market compensation - I was doing the job of 3 people. When I went to my interim supervisor, he said I make as much as the Director (my former supervisor) and that I was one of the highest paid at the company, which I find hard to believe. Shady Business Practices - company outsourced the bulk of optimization work to teams in India, never acknowledged that to clients. We were never to reveal that we paid workers in India to do the work. I found this out the first week on the job and it felt wrong.
