Pros

Great community, supportive and meaningful work. upwards of 11% employer contributions for retirement based on years of service ( and they will take into account previous highered/ 403b work history)

Cons

pay- and the merit increases are very small and health insurance (compared to other places I've worked) could be better.

Pros

Great colleagues across campus. Beyond the coworkers in your immediate department there are so many talented people to collaborate with and get feedback from in every department. The campus is beautiful and there are excellent benefits such as gym access, library borrowing rights, and free tuition once you've been full time for two years.

Cons

Leadership is often out of touch. They justified giving a VP a large raise and bonus to keep them from leaving for another offer and yet in the last several years since covid there has not been the same kind of incentive given to normal rank and file employees. Additionally there are some weird discrepancies between benefits for employees classified as staff and those considered faculty that have nothing to do with the actual jobs. For instance faculty get an entire semester of paid parental leave 4-5 month, but staff get 6 weeks of paid parental leave.
