Pros

7 years ago there were a lot of pros but now I don't think there are any left. Corporate did a good job removing everything positive about the job for every employee except them.

Cons

I worked for the company for over 7 years and when is started it was full of long term veteran employees and was well known as a great place to work that you could make good money at. Then as the owner started being less and less involved and the "old school" corporate guys got to take full control it went down hill fast. All corporate and most of the regional managers care about is profit so everything else has suffered drastically. Product quality went so far down it was embarrassing to sell a lot of the stuff on the floor and the prices went up as the quality went down and they just encouraged the employees that knew better to pretty much just lie to the customer and get the sales. Corporate really could care less about all the "little guys" especially the store managers. They look at it as everyone is replaceable so either do what they say or they will fire you and bring someone else in. They actually have a saying that goes "if you can't change your people, change your people". Customers can say and do whatever they want and corporate doesn't even think twice about throwing their managers under the bus and making them constantly look like the bad guy and will actually scold the managers when they do their jobs and try to protect the company and uphold its rules. The regionals don't have a clue how to actually work in the stores anymore because they change rules and procedures on an almost daily basis that no one can keep up with so the regionals show up at stores and tell everyone they are doing a terrible job and then move on to the next one. The turnover here is soooo outrageous that your considered a veteran now if you last 2 years and corporate actually changed the pay scale so no one gets paid commission or over ride until the product is loaded out so that way when they fire you or when you quit after being forced to work 15 days in a row at 12 hours a day, they then get to keep the commission that you should of been paid on all the sales that you got but the customers haven't picked up yet. They did this right after they took away the ability for the stores to have product in stock at the store so now everything has to be ordered in and it takes weeks to arrive so they keep a huge amount of commission that should of been paid out to the revolving door of employees. They try and copy what every other competitor is doing but they are always far behind the curve and usually end up trying to put their own egotistical spin on things and it does nothing but make the experience worse for customers and anger all the employees. The higher ups are so blinded by their egos that they really try and act like they don't understand why they can't keep employees and why managers are quitting on an almost weekly basis. In order to make any money you have to keep your staff level low but then you have to work 60+ hours per week and if someone goes on vacation or gets fired then you could be expected to work 2-4 weeks straight with almost no days off. When I started there it was an awesome place to work where you could make a really good living and really enjoyed the people you worked with but then they made some changes with personnel at the top of the company and everything went straight into the crapper really fast. I was moved around the country 4 different times for what they called "promotions", consistently averaged over 60 hours a week, hired and promoted out multiple new managers and overall ran and very good store but there was absolutely no appreciation for it, it was just expected and the minute you did something bad in their eyes (like not getting enough email addresses on sales) they would tell you how easy you are to replace so job security there is non existent. Company has lost its way from when it was all about its people and now solely focused on profit margin. They now don't care much about the people and if you won't do what they want or go where they want then they will get someone in who will. It's quite difficult to sell to customers that do a lot of shopping around because every other store offers huge discounts and free delivery but furniture row offers 3% off and you have to pay $200 to get stuff delivered 2 miles from the store. Also, once you hit store manager your pretty much done moving up because regional spots rarely open because they are all in the good ole boys club and can do no wrong

Pros

Absolute no pros I can think of.

Cons

They even make you pay for their business cards, let that sink in. No way to move up. They want you to move from store to store instead. Absolutely no pay raise to do anything extra they ask for. Not even a kitchen to use on your break. Poor company culture with very high turn over. Cannot imagine why?
