Pros

Remote work and "unlimited PTO"

Cons

The culture is deliberately engineered to grind you down while setting you up to fail. Performance reviews are tied to an absurd colour system—purple being the highest rating, a level unattainable by basically everyone. This impossible standard is then conveniently used to justify regular firings. Once you get to know the CEO and management, it becomes painfully clear why everything feels so dysfunctional. Turnover is high, and talented employees routinely jump ship for better opportunities elsewhere. The irony is this company operates in the workforce development sector—yet it treats its own employees like they're disposable.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We never want anyone on our team to feel unsupported. It looks like this note was left by a current employee. We’d love to talk in person if that’s something you’re open to, whether that’s with your manager, our People & Culture lead, or the CEO directly. If you prefer an anonymous forum, you could also use our monthly surveys to leave more detailed feedback around your specific frustrations. Growth, fairness, and respect are values we care deeply about, and we’re committed to making sure they are felt consistently across the team. Your input helps us continue working toward that.

Pros

- Inspiring and impactful work - I genuinely see our product changing people's lives every day, and we're one of the leading players in a niche, fast-growing market. - High-growth environment where everyone is pushed to achieve more than they thought themselves capable of and given both the space and support to grow. - Extremely supportive, low-ego team members - there's always someone there to pick me up, and no one feels like their own work is more important the success of the team. - Flexible work environment - work when and where you want as long as you get the job done. Nice having office available as needed and seeing teammates in person at least once a week.

Cons

- You will work very hard. There is a high intensity and pace to the work, which means Slack is often lit up on nights and weekends. - The org runs very lean. Everyone is asked to cover a lot of ground, including things outside their job description. - Career ladders aren't always made clear. More structure around role titles/levels and org charts would help employees understand what advancement could look like.

Thank you for the thoughtful and honest feedback. We’re really glad the mission, impact, and team culture came through so clearly - that’s what we care most about building. We also recognize the intensity of the work and the reality of operating lean. That pace has helped us grow quickly, and as we continue to scale, we’re actively working on adding more structure while staying true to the trust, flexibility, and ownership we also value. Thank you for sharing your experience!
