Pros

GCP manages to attract individuals who are top in their field and who believe in knowledge sharing/collaboration.

Cons

For the first few weeks, you will learn a lot and you will eagerly complete every task at hand, working as hard as you can to complete them...then you realize most are pointless and you’re working harder not smarter. There’s no direction or clear path. It doesn’t matter how hard you work, it’s never enough. You try your hardest by putting in 70-80 hour work weeks only to be given more work and be told weekends are MANDATORY. There is a lot of talk about flexible work environment and at times it is true. You can work 10 of the 70-80 hours from the comfort of your home. There is also a lot of talk about opportunities in other departments but when it comes down to it, management, knowing how difficult it would be to replace you, block the process and give you no option but to leave. It’s bittersweet because some departments are well run and give you the illusion that perhaps it’s going to get better but the reality is anything related to accounting or finance will never change (or hasn’t since the company went public) and unless you’re willing to live and breathe GCP, the never ending unnecessary projects will consume your life. As others mentioned it makes it that much worse when your bonuses are cut yet you have more consultants than employees (because of the high turnover) who get paid outrageous hourly rates (unlike salary employees)...it is very telling when the consultants have been in the company for longer than any of the employees in that department.
