Pros

This is the most comprehensive and fair review you will read about GEICO as a sales representative. period. GEICO is a great company, if you’re looking for a career or even just a job you cant go wrong here they give you opportunity to get raises rather easily, awesome benefits, the occasional free food, fun people, and cool events and the environment of the sales department on a holistic level is fairly laid back, but the overlying factor that will impact your environment is largely governed by who your supervisor is and if you are new you don't necessarily get to chose who your supervisor is. Considering you get to sit in front of a computer desk and strictly receive inbound calls is fairly rare in a job. Also some of the supervisors are amazing they will go over and above what there asked to help you be successful in this job which is a true rarity in a job, this fact alone makes GEICO a fantastic company. All in all GEICO is a good place to work but if you have aggressive goals for your life GEICO will be a great stepping stone into your next career, company's love seeing a year or mores work at a solid company like GEICO.

Cons

Some of the things that annoyed me while I was there was that not many people are passionate about that job and people are constantly talking about leaving which effects you as an individual. At GEICO all your job is; is focusing on selling whoever comes on your line with that said before you take this job you need to understand one irrefutable fact about the job: you WILL get customers on the line that will not purchase policies for absolutely no good reason, you could be virtually saving someone over $500 per month and they still wont buy for whatever reason they give you, and when you get this person on your line and trust me you will, there is nothing more you can say or do, than try your best to sell it. You have to learn to move on and not let your feelings transfer to the next call, which is hard, although with a sales job there will be opportunities you can’t win (that's just how sales is) and it will negativity impacts you at GEICO if you can’t sell a policy no matter how hard it is. The day in and day out routine of the job does wear you down. When you speak to the hiring manager when your start they will tell you that it’s easy to make 60k-80k a year, I'm telling you now some of the most seasoned vets on this job can’t make this much from personally speaking to them myself, the commissions system is based on quotas, for example you have to hit 100 - 150 policies in a given month in order to even starting to make bonus. I have had months were I've bonused over $2000-$3000 but taxes on commission is 40% so your only taking home about $1,200 extra per month, and that is if you bonus every month. They also tell you you’re making 36k a year starting out, mathematically this is false, you start out making almost $18 dollars an hour. This multiplied by 38 hours multiplied by 4 (a month's worth of work) equals a little over 32k a year (where did the extra 4k go? and also keep in mind that is before taxes, realistically you take home about 30k a year without commission) One thing that I know the managers and supervisors know but refuse to acknowledge, for which I can't blame them, is that 99% of the calls you get will be priced focused, and the superiors and managers will tell you verbatim that price is not a reason for customers to call in, when in reality the main reason people switch insurance is because it's too expensive, and the managers will not recognize this and the reason is clear. If managements saw price as an area to focus it creates excuses for sales reps not to sell policies based on price objections.

Pros

Interesting problems to work on. Good benefits. Decent pay.

Cons

Managers will gaslight you and upper leadership is constantly changing, so expect projects you're working on to be thrown out every 6 months. Many people burn out and quit after some time and are never back filled, so you'll be expected to take on their workload. Some of my colleagues were working 80 hour work weeks to keep up with the work load and yet told they were not performing well enough. There also wasn't much diversity.
