Worst Company I've Ever Worked For... - Insurance Agent GEICO Employee Review

Pros

The only pro was profit sharing.

Cons

Everything else. Management is too political to car about employees. They will change your schedule without a second thought to your life. The level of stress is unreal. Customers and managers will yell at you all day. Many supervisors will refuse to take supervisor calls. Calls are graded with the most subjective of guidelines. Forget to tell the customer three times instead of two and you may be pulled off the phones for coaching. The computer systems are dated and crash all the time. The Carmel, IN office is a trainwreck down a hill in a snowstorm. I left to go to a company paying only a dollar less an hour with half the stress. Best decision I've made this year. This place is a job, not a career. When you can look at the positions above yours and honestly say you don't care to move up into any of them, it's usually time to leave. I can honestly say there was nothing I wanted to move up into.

Pros

GEICO is one of the largest employers in my smaller town, so I've heard all the good, the bad, and the ugly. What a pleasant surprise it's been working here! There is so much intentional change to create a great employee experience and get the right team leaders in place. Highly recommend not putting too much weight into older negative comments if you're thinking about applying. I've been very happy with my salary, the benefits/time off, culture, and leadership (both locally and senior leaders). I feel like there's a lot of room to continue to grow my career here and I see the same opportunities for others.

Cons

Really nothing major that I can think of!

Pros

Strong opportunities for career growth Many people are willing to mentor and support others without expecting anything in return Supportive culture, even from people who may not know you personally Increased focus on education and development, especially for leaders More company activities at the local office, which has been a welcome change Fun associate engagement opportunities like escape rooms, art activities, games, and food events So many opportunities for recognition

Cons

There are still some areas where the company appears to be rebuilding trust and confidence Change is noticeable and appreciated, but some improvements are still in progress Feedback has clearly helped shape recent changes, and it will be good to see that progress continue
