Gap is a fun place to work, but only temporarily. - Sales Associate Gap Employee Review

Pros

In my experience, it was a generally friendly atmosphere.

Cons

Management, from store-level to region-level, is, overall, overwhelmingly incompetent across brands. The reliance upon GapCard promotions gets rather annoying. As an incredibly popular chain, the holidays are always crazy, and a lot of work has to go into store maintenance year round. Often, though semi-attributable to the failing economy, stores are completely understaffed, so one person often ends up with the duties that would normally be allotted to two to four people.

Generous PTO, monthly bonus for management, 401k and stock options, socially conscious brand, focus on diversity and inclusion

Cons

Very low pay, Micromanagement by upper management, lack of available hours to adequately staff the sales floor, too many tasks and too little time allotted, no opportunity for advancement
