Pros

Good for opening doors for other roles - ex-Gartner still holds weight in the market. Was thrown in at the deep end when it came to starting a sales career, so learnt a lot very quickly.

Cons

To put it bluntly, Gartner’s midsize sales team environment in EMEA treated me so poorly that I seriously thought about taking my own life at one point. And I am not the only one. They retain leaders for decades despite some of the worst leadership skills I’ve ever witnessed - and because of their tenure, they are seen as untouchable. Completely awful and out of touch - if you are still at Gartner after a few years, leave. Do yourself, your career, and most importantly your mental well-being a favour. Please.

Pros

Terrific coworkers. Nearly everyone at the company is pleasant, professional, and willing to help you even if you’ve never met them before. Hybrid work environment. People generally seem to care about you on an individual level. One of the best corporations I’ve worked for.

Cons

Gartner is not in a great place right now. The business model requires changes and Wall Street analysts have tremendous doubts about the corporate liability in the era of AI. Stock has fallen in half over the past two years. Massive layoffs across the company. Doubt the stability is there for any kind of medium term or long-term career. Below market compensation, offset by pros above when they exist.
