Pros
The office culture is great and there are a lot of nice elements around the office (ping pong, music, snacks, etc) as noted by many other reviewers. The best thing about Gather is the product. We are doing things that nobody else is and are building a truly disruptive technology that is positioned to influence the market space. The fact that the company is still small means a lot of cross-pollination between departments which is interesting and it gives a unique ability to influence teams outside of your direct department. Gather is very open to new ideas & technology and isn't afraid to make a change that can improve performance or process. Everyone in the office is smart, hard-working, thoughtful, respectful, talented and quirky. I feel motivated to get better by seeing other people perform at a high level regularly.
Cons
As expected, things change frequently (a positive that comes with startup life) but this change can be painful if it isn't clearly communicated. It can sometimes feel like all departments aren't on the same page or aren't aware of new policies, features or upcoming initiatives. Top performers are frequently promoted but there seems to be a gap in leadership development that creates high turnover and inconsistency.
