Pros

The immediate team was solid — talented, collaborative engineers who genuinely cared about the work. Day-to-day, the infrastructure work was interesting and there were good tools and resources to do the job well. Colleagues were supportive and the team culture was positive.

Cons

The company has a pattern of removing employees with little to no notice, and this appears to be beyond just the recent layoff event. It was something I observed repeatedly while employed. When the layoffs did hit, the timing and execution felt tone-deaf — I was let go just days before my equity cliff date, and when I reached out to People Ops to discuss whether vesting could be accelerated to the cliff date, I received no response at all. That silence says a lot about how the company views employee contributions. Overall, there is a disconnect between the company's values on paper and how employees are actually treated when it matters most.

Pros

For a while, Gemini was a promising company, employees cared about what they were building, team members were smart and talented, but that did not last due to poor C-suite management

Cons

Layoffs began, and things went downhill from there. Lack of communication from leadership, random "micro cuts" where co workers would just disappear on slack. Employee morale became low, and product vision wavered
