Pros

Good GC co-workers, somewhat flexible schedule

Cons

Terrible HR, low pay, and very hectic schedules. HR has laid numerous people off with a absolutely no notice or severance. The policies are constantly changing and the communication between HR/upper management is terrible. There is no job security

Pros

They take most of the admin work off of GCs so that we can operate at the top of our scope. Also, great flexibility.

Cons

Given that the job is patient focused, there is limited upward mobility. However, efficiency gained through experience increases earning potential.

Pros

Remote remote remote remote remote

Cons

GeneScreen operates with blatant disregard for employment laws and employee welfare. The company initially had a "credit" system that allowed employees to earn fair pay through performance, with the potential to make up to $20/hour. However, this system was abruptly removed after furloughs and layoffs, leaving us stuck at a base pay of $15/hour—far below a living wage—while the workload steadily increased. The situation worsened when report quotas rose from 16 to 22+ per day, and the criteria for crediting tasks were unfairly adjusted, effectively cutting our pay further. Upper management shows zero regard for employee concerns, fostering an environment rife with blatant nepotism. For example, the patient services manager hires family members who disregard protocols and burden the team with last-minute tasks, with no accountability or consequences. This company does not value its employees or maintain ethical practices. Genetic counselors and staff alike face undue stress, lack of fair compensation, and a toxic culture. I strongly advise prospective employees or clients to look elsewhere. Former employees on LinkedIn can confirm these issues if further validation is needed.
