Pros
Awesome coworkers, competitive pay, nice location, good experience for entry level engineers.
Cons
The hours, the management, and the favoritism broke me. Hours: It is advertised that 4x10's are what the normal hours are, pretty nice gig right? WRONG. It was often that I worked 5x11's. The work/life balance destroyed my morale overtime. I was salary engineering position, which after calculating the hours put in, I was getting paid as much as production line workers... Management/ favoritism: I realize that there is a certain level of nepotism, but there are so much good, hard working people at Genie that deserves a raise or promotion. It seems 90% of people getting promoted are non-minorities, and where there are minorities in higher positions takes them twice as much effort to get there. Don't get me wrong, there are some awesome managers, I just didn't get the chance to meet them. There was no structure at all for my department. The manager had no idea how to be a leader. It seems like Genie is like a broken record, always talking about the same issues and nothing changes.
