Pros

Pay was reasonable and the Atlanta office provided some nice perks such as covered parking, daycare, onsite cafeteria, and coffee bar, etc. Company had good values and senior management is pushing the company in the right direction.

Cons

Mid level management(director and VP level) in Building Products Engineering isn't being held accountable. They aren't pushing the values that are being passed down from senior management. They're trying to continue working in years past and not open to new technology that makes day to day task easier. There is no mentorship for employees looking to move up. Bonuses are rarely given. The leaders in this department haven't done large project work in over 20 years when the demand for their products was high. This old guard management is having a difficult time adjusting to the new landscape in engineering and construction as new technology has improved both construction techniques and administrative processes while government interaction has also increased. Additionally, they're having a hard time working well with other functional teams. There is a lot of finger pointing which doesn't lead to productivity. Experienced employees familiar with such practices aren't valued and instructed to copy past work rather right or wrong. I would avoid this department if looking for a position in engineering. Fortunately, GP is a huge company with multiple organizations. I would target their consumer products division if looking for a position in engineering.
