Pros

- A nice office in a great area of Berlin - Flexible working hours - Dog-friendly (as long as you are friends with management)

Cons

- A very strong hierarchy system - Favoritism - An HR department without compassion for the employees - Leaders who are incapable of taking constructive criticism - Ostracism in both official and personal situations - Only possible to get a raise if you are friends with the people in charge - Management trash talks employers within the circle of power, this happens both during and after office hours - High rotation on employers, due to a high rate of people quitting or getting fired (few people stay more than a year) In other words, management is only open to advise from every department as long as it substantiates their own opinions, people that are not likeminded will either not be heard or do not dare to speak up in fear of getting targeted for ostracism and in some cases bullied until they quit or get fired. Geschenkidee is a perfect example of management ego standing in the way of the companies’ success. They treat people in a way that reflects their personal relationships above performance time and time again. On top of all of this, they use their international and often young employees ignorance when it comes to German laws, to deceive and take advantage of people.

Pros

- very good people, made new friends within the team - nice office

Cons

- lack of strategic direction, no transparency at all - when communication, very much top down - no people orientation, even HR is not reachable or interested in employees needs, that was different before with other HR Lead - no real development of position, hire and fire culture - work a lot of extra hours and no extra compensation, normal procedure, not so family friendly
