Pros

Overall company reputation, compensation, benefits are good in comparison to many other BioTech companies in the Bay Area. Lots of recent investments in employee wellness and increased benefits programs. Commuter bus program, flexible schedule options. May get opportunities for growth if in the right department.

Cons

The leadership within many departments is just incompetent. I would call them fake news. They seem to just care to get themselves ahead. A lot of leaders care about managing upwards and pleasing their bosses even if they may be wrong or just immature. Many leaders just talk and can walk the talk. Many are good at just putting together good presentations but actually fail in implementing the change or operationalize the strategy laid out. In most cases, the leadership is hypocritical in their own behavior and just looks at short-term goals. All major departments operate in silos and just are clueless about what is going on with other departments even if they may be dependent on each other. Leaders need to instill a culture of inclusivity and trust among departments. Many of our departments in our organization operate for individual department success and not the success of Gilead as a whole.

Pros

-The only pros are the amazing benefits - probably the best 401K I've seen as well as the highly competitive salaries.

Cons

-Lack of culture is a growing and rampant issue - there is a very high level of favoritism -Micromanagement from senior leadership - instances occuered where they essentially forced an employee to resign and not directly fire him/her just so that they wouldn't have to pay severence package, etc. Managers want to just make themselves look good and make it clear that your only job is to acf as if they are God's gift to this messed up planet. -Lack of proper communication and frequent unnecessary team meetings held which are a waste of time and do not accomplish any desirable results.
