Pros
- You will see impact of your work quickly - Good autonomy to problem solve & create new things - You'll work with good people - Some of the highest pay, especially if Engineering: Top 10% pay across all levels.
Cons
- Management frequently changes direction, currently in deep cost cutting mode (including continuous silent layoffs) to pay for past management decision mistakes e.g overhiring, investing in products with questionable market condition (e.g crypto), Over-reliance on promos to jack up growth/defend market share - Senior Management is overloaded, big job scope with under-resourced teams, pressured to be profitable asap. - Employee Workload is very high, expect to work on weekends, and on leave. - Small room for mistakes & learning. The business needs people who can do the job 110% from day one. - Specific for HR: New Group CHRO is NOT a people person, and a poor leader. Positions herself only to blindly please the Group CEO, demanding HR team to follow her orders. Her decisions almost always impact negatively to employees. Sometimes PAC need to send bad news, but I've never found an HR leader this heartless. Wellness week is hard fought win for employees, it almost didn't happen. Absence record is silly and old-fashioned practice (want employee to go to office every day, not giving incentive not penalty). Medical benefit cut is communicated poorly. HR organization has many people doing two roles and layoffs keep happening. People stay because they haven't found a better paying job. Stay away from joining HR as long as the Group CHRO is there.
