Pros

Gogo BA is most certainly the leader in Inflight WiFi for Business Aviation. Their products and the majority of their employees are some of the best around. The technology is new and exciting to be around.

Cons

If you don't have experience managing people or managing a function, you should not be a manager whether it be a manager or VP. One of the 5 Star reviews on here was from a VP who had no management experience and no experience managing the function they were given. That is not setting an organization up for success, it is setting it up for failure and continuing to drive good people away. There is a group of managers, leads, and engineers (5 or so) that are really holding the company back. They are a clique leftover from the days when Gogo BA was more about me than we. If you're not in favor with these folks, you might as well to bang your head against the wall because nothing will get done. It would be different if they were amazing engineers and mangers, but alas, they are not. They are mediocre, at best, and should be pruned from the tree.

Pros

Gogo is in the middle of a major transformation, and for people who are energized by growth, accountability, and meaningful work, this is an exciting time to be here. The acquisition of Satcom Direct brought together two companies with different strengths, histories, and cultures. That kind of integration is never easy, but it has created a company with a much broader portfolio, stronger market position, and a clearer path forward. Gogo’s past success was built during a very different era in aviation connectivity. For years, the company built a strong and valuable position in the air-to-ground market, and that remains an important part of the company’s business today. Gogo continues to evolve its ATG products and services to deliver value to customers. At the same time, the aviation connectivity market has changed dramatically. Customers now have more options, competition is stronger, and long-term success requires a broader portfolio and a more diversified set of solutions. That is why the Satcom Direct acquisition matters. SD brought deep experience in satellite communications, strong customer relationships, access to multi-orbit solutions, and experience serving commercial, military, and government markets. Combining that with Gogo’s history, customer base, and aviation connectivity expertise creates a much stronger company. The new culture is focused on ownership, execution, customer outcomes, and continuous improvement. There is real opportunity here for people who want to help build something stronger than what existed before. The culture is changing because the business has to change. The days of assuming past success will carry the company forward are over. The people who thrive here now are the ones who care about execution, accountability, teamwork, and customer success. They are not afraid of hard work, and they understand that excellence is earned. Gogo is not perfect, but it is moving in the right direction. For professionals who want to be part of a serious, competitive, high-performing company, this is a great place to be.

Cons

Transformation is uncomfortable. The company has gone through reorganizations, leadership changes, process changes, cost discipline, and a renewed focus on performance. Not everyone will enjoy that environment, especially if they were comfortable with the way things used to be. There are still areas where communication can improve, and any fast-moving organization needs to keep listening to its teams. But change was necessary, and the company is making the difficult decisions required to compete in a very different market.

Pros

It's the best place to work if you like being treated like a child.

Cons

Don't believe the good reviews. Satcom Direct and their leaders have destroyed Gogo. The culture in Colorado has slowly been dismantled and replaced by a strict, militaristic style of managing and processes. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does. Teams that were once cohesive and effective have been torn apart with reorganizations, resignations, and layoffs. Everyone answers to multiple micromanagers who do not know how to lead. Every 15 minutes of your day is examined and criticized. No talking, unless it's work related. Don't stop typing. Don't suggest improvements or question the roadmap, because SD does everything perfectly, even when they don't. Just follow orders and put on a happy face.
