Pros

The company genuinely helps so many restaurants and their service/product is unique. Pay is competitive. Free food. Smart and talented coworkers.

Cons

This was by far the worst job I have ever had. Company leadership (some of whom are related to each other or married, btw, which leads to some weird vibes) is toxic, disorganized, makes sudden and random decisions, hires and fires people out of nowhere for no clear reason, micromanagey, provides direction only to immediately reverse it a few days later and will treat you like you're insane when you ask for clarity considering that they said the exact opposite a week ago, and instead of providing regular and actionable feedback they often opt to shame, criticize and humiliate employees in front of their peers. There is also very little onboarding and no training, so hope you can get your bearings in a trial by fire. When I was hired, it was almost a week before my boss made time to meet with me. I should have run away screaming then, at that first red flag. "Success" at this company requires the ability to read the mind and whims of the chaotic c-suite folks - for the few favorite people at the company who are able to do this, life is good, but even these few favorites were often fielding phone calls at 11PM, on weekends, etc. If they like you, you can join the cult - but at the expense of giving up your entire personal life. I want to hug everyone else leaving reviews here recently - this company made me truly feel like I was losing my mind. I have never been treated so poorly at a job - and I have worked in call centers, grueling customer service/retail jobs, and minimum wage food service. The pay is competitive, but not competitive enough to justify the six months of therapy I required after the horrible experience I had here. BTW, other prospective employees - check reviews under "Goldbely" (with one L, that's a former spelling of the company) as well to see even more miserable reviews from mistreated former employees.

Pros

* Some genuinely kind talented teammates who still try to hold the line together * Occasional lunch or site credit * A fast crash course in what not to do at a startup

Cons

* Authoritarian leadership wrapped in chaos. * Onboarding lasted about 20 minutes, then radio silence. * No clear process or project management coverage * Expectations shift daily * Micromanagement and gaslighting cycle * The direction on Monday gets reversed by Friday, then blamed on miscommunication. * Feedback means copying existing work exactly without context or purpose. * Designers are treated like production robots rather than creative professionals. * Toxic culture dynamics * Operates on fear and performance optics * Leadership takes credit for wins mistakes are pushed down to the team. * Evaluation based on Slack activity, not actual output * Expect late Friday gotcha calls questioning commitment. * Tool and communication chaos * Slack is the only real system of record Monday project tool is ignored. * Context is constantly lost in DMs * Mental health warning: Anxiety and stress are symptoms of the environment, not the individual. Stress responses are mislabeled as attitude problems.
