Pros
The interviews are conducted in a way that makes you feel comfortable to be yourself. This gave me confidence in my answers and general conversation - no unnecessary steps or hurdles to go through. Onboarding was quick and simple. They showed the big picture of Goodwill to get an idea of mission impact but I've found myself still learning about new things at Goodwill. Development in the long run is nice with this company. There are conversations throughout the year about it and the direction you may want to go in your career. Conversations are often very easy with management and this is part of discussions. The company has its needs though so sometimes the path becomes blurred. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience. The company constantly revaluates its salaries and wages with the market to ensure employees are compensated correctly. It seems there was a raise twice in one of the years which was nice. Part of working for a nonprofit is to expect no bonuses or anything like that. Culture overall is great. Everyone is friendly. Nobody goes behind your back. Conversations are easy with everyone no matter the topic because everyone respects one another. Nobody is treated differently in my opinion. The pandemic definitely put a damper on the overall camaraderie. My experiences and observations are my own.
Cons
Training seems to lack for the internal employees. Goodwill is great with training in our mission but corporate training seems to lack direction for newcomers. Benefits aren't the best. Good healthcare and retirement options however, the time-off isn't friendly to work/life balance. Still, it's not the worst I've heard of but room for improvement to balance it out.
